About the Position:
ROMTech now seeks a Remote Cardiac Rehab Specialist to work with our Cardiac Rehab Medical Advisor. he ideal candidate will have high-level expertise in the area of cardiovascular rehabilitation and may be an Exercise Physiologist, Registered Nurse, or other relevant position. They will provide remote patient care via telehealth to patients in our virtual cardiac rehabilitation program, under the direction of the Cardiac Rehab Medical Advisor. Note: this is not a diagnostic role, however, we are looking for those who are astute observers and can simultaneously build a bond with their patients (i.e.; normal vital signs like oxygen saturations, heart rhythms, changes in patterns, etc.). This role will integrate components of clinician, educator, and researcher, as they work in a trailblazing environment. This is a work-from-home, contract position, with about 20-30 hours needed per week – with a preference for a flexible schedule. This role may develop into full-time employment as the program develops.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, assess, treat, and document patient tolerance of exercise in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Provide exercise prescription for patients utilizing clinical assessment data, patient status, and current medication regimen; updates exercise prescription according to patient response.
- Recognizes contraindications to exercise, abnormal patient responses, and responds appropriately to all situations.
- Demonstrates thorough understanding of basic ECG and biometric data interpretation.
- Compiles current medication list and ensures patients fully understand the reason for and actions of all medications.
- Provides exercise, lifestyle modification, and disease management education for patients and family members.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work without supervision.
- Must demonstrate strong ability to multitask, working with multiple patients simultaneously while maintaining aforementioned standards and taking appropriate action when necessary.
- Basic computer knowledge with experience using virtual telehealth platforms and Microsoft Office programs. Telehealth experience using virtual patient care platforms preferred (not required).
Qualities:
- Enthusiastic and motivated with strong interpersonal skills; desire and ability to develop patient rapport in telehealth setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree (preferred) in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or related field
- 5+ years of proven work experience as an Exercise Physiologist, Registered Nurse, or other relevant position
- 2+ years of experience in a center-based cardiac rehab setting (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS), First Aid/CPR are required
- ACSM-CEP certification, highly preferred
- ACLS certification, nice to have
- All life support certification must be completed through the AHA or American Red Cross
- Must have reliable, high-speed internet connection and functioning camera for delivery of telehealth
Strong preference given to those with experience working with patients via telehealth.
