Mechanical Engineer

ROMTech is now seeking a passionate and self-driven Mechanical Engineer to join our growing engineering team at our headquarters in Brookfield, CT. As a member of our team, the Mechanical Engineer will contribute to product development, implementation, and execution. The Mechanical Engineer will aid in the quality of our product and will be responsible for the optimization of several areas to help produce a family of robust telemedicine products. The Mechanical Engineer will report directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems
  • Maintain and create part and product documentation
  • Participate in new product development
  • Design, develop, and build assembly and product test fixtures
  • Evaluate existing designs to improve reliability, decrease cost, reduce weight, and reduce assembly time
  • Confirm system and product capabilities by designing feasibility, testing methods and properties
  • Develop mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; and soliciting observations from operators/assemblers
  • Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product, and system capabilities
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Complete projects by training and guiding technicians
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Apply knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials
  • Write and authorize rework and repair instructions
  • Work with the quality department to investigate patient complaints

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the mechanical engineering field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferred
  • Technical capabilities including expertise with SolidWorks, Microsoft 365 and the ability to effectively present technical information
  • Experience designing injection molded parts, preferred
  • Proficient conceptual and design skills
  • Skilled with organization/document control
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Quality focus
  • Knowledge of GD&T preferred
  • Experience with generating and maintaining part drawings and documentation
  • Proven ability to build and troubleshoot electromechanical devices and fixtures
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations regarding medical device manufacturing, preferred
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
